Karen and Steve Johnston opened All About Automotive in October 2000. More than 25 years later, the same philosophy holds: explain the repair, give a fair price, do the work right.
Why Karen and Steve opened the shop
Before All About Automotive, Karen and Steve watched friends and neighbors get surprised by repair bills they did not understand, from shops that did not take the time to explain what was wrong. They believed an auto repair shop could operate differently — one where the customer always knew what was happening with their vehicle and why.
They opened at their current location on NW Burnside Rd in Gresham and built the business one customer at a time. Many of the families they served in those early years are still bringing their cars in today.
Karen became one of the most prolific auto repair writers in the region, building a blog that now ranks in the top 100 automotive blogs nationally and helps Oregonians understand their vehicles. Steve and the technical team handle what she writes about.
